Governor Xu Leads Delegation to Kenya, the UK, Ireland

Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe led a delegation to visit Laikipia County of the Republic of Kenya; Lincolnshire of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; and Carlow County of the Republic of Ireland on invitation from March 25 to April 3, 2019. He met with persons in charge of local government departments, enterprises, and institutions; attended many economic and trade fairs, and innovative matchmaking activities; and, signed a number of friendly cooperation agreements. The tour achieved fruitful results.

 

Governor Xu talks with Ndiritu Muriithi, governor of Laikipia County of the Republic of Kenya, and signs a letter of intent to establish a friendly province-county relationship.

 

Governor Xu meets with Tuju, secretary-general of the Jubilee Party of Kenya and cabinet secretary without portfolio.

It was one of the key tasks of Xu Dazhe's trip to promote the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and strengthen industrial cooperation. Governor Xu inspected the enterprises founded by Hunanese in Nairobi and visited the African branch of China Global Television Network. He hoped to take the advantage of the expo to tell the stories of China and Hunan.

During his stay in the UK, Governor Xu paid a visit to Princess Anne. They discussed on such topics as enhancing the friendship between Hunan and British people; and, deepening cooperation in cultural exchanges, water resources and environmental protection, scientific and technological innovation, cultural education, medical and health, and industrial trade.

Xu Dazhe signs a memorandum of cooperation with Sir John Peace, chairman of the Midland Engine, Inc. of the UK.

In Ireland, Xu Dazhe met with former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern in Dublin, and exchanged views on promoting innovative R&D and commercial use of scientific and technological achievements. They agreed to further learn from each other and deepen cooperation under the context of the “Belt and Road” initiative. 

Governor Xu attends the opening ceremony of the Big Data and Sci-Tech Innovation Center, and delivers a speech. The center was jointly established by the Technological University Dublin and the Hunan University of Commerce.

Wu Peng, Chinese ambassador to Kenya; Liu Xiaoming, ambassador to the UK; and Yue Xiaoyong, ambassador to Ireland, met with the delegation or attended the inspection tour. The persons in charge of relevant Hunan provincial departments and Loudi City joined the tour.
